Project Overview
Parrilla Oscar is a local gastronomic institution located in Cali, with loyal clients over more than 20 years of history. The main challenge of my work as a graphic designer for this brand consisted of boosting its digital visual communication, leading the strategic design of its social media to modernize its presence without losing its traditional essence.
Through the constant creation of visual content for platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, my main goal was to increase the restaurant's visibility, spark an intense desire for its traditional dishes, and consolidate a coherent brand identity capable of attracting new generations of local clients to enjoy its grill.

The Challenge of Graphic Design for Restaurants
The digital presence of the gastronomic industry depends almost entirely on social media. Nowadays, platforms like Instagram operate simultaneously as an infinite interactive visual menu, a direct promotional channel, and the primary point of contact and loyalty building with recent clients.
With this clear, my focus as a graphic designer in social media during this period (2024–2026) centered on applying strategic visual communication principles. It wasn't just about taking photos or posting isolated posts, but establishing a visual narrative where every promotional piece, event poster, or grill announcement elevated the overall quality perception of the star dishes.
For an establishment with a legacy like Parrilla Oscar, this design had to respect graphic tradition and the underlying rustic motifs, applying specific colors and consistent typography that made the brand unmistakable when swiftly scrolling through the feed.

Sparking Desire: Strategy and Aesthetics
In gastronomic advertising, the highest goal is to appeal to the senses through sight. My work philosophy combines deep research with aesthetics, making sure to highlight the freshness of the ingredients and the appetizing quality of the meat cuts honestly.
- Increase visibility: Intensive use of tools like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create promotional designs and campaigns that captured the fleeting attention of users (scroll-stopping content).
- Visual composition: Graphic formats adapted to the perfect pixel of vertical and horizontal platforms.
- Consistent identity: Maintenance of a consistent photographic style and chromatic palettes evoking the warmth of charcoal, fire and traditional cooking.
The Commercial Impact of Design (Menu Engineering)
While the focus remained intensely on the digital front, the renewed identity was tactically applied to the sales floor. A high-value component contributed was the editorial redesign of the restaurant's menu, solving old problems of readability and text saturation.
As a visual communicator, this exercise relied on the concepts of Menu Engineering; ranking the reading to subtly guide diners towards the house specialties and higher-margin dishes, improving both the selection experience at the table and the profitability of a brand that has served the Cali community for two decades.
The consolidated result of working hand in hand with Parrilla Oscar proves my professional thesis: graphic design experience, applied with a genuine commercial goal, becomes an unparalleled marketing speaker for day-to-day businesses in the food sector.
